Rhenium '97: Landmarks, state of the art, and outlook

The International Symposium on Rhenium and Rhenium alloys was held in conjunction with the 1997 TMS Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. The most important aspects of the technological challenges which aim to improve rhenium qualification and fabrication conformance were discussed. The quorum was to disseminate scientific, engineering, and technical knowledge pertaining to mechanical/physical properties and microstructural characterization of rhenium and its alloys. It was to provide an up-to-date development in advanced alloys design and key points of processing enhancement. Rhenium applications under extreme thermal and mechanical stresses were discussed.
