How to Accelerate the Intra-cluster Knowledge Diffusion: A Case Study of a Hosiery Cluster in China

This paper studies the intra-cluster knowledge diffusion from the cognitive perspective. Borrowing the concept of schema from the social cognition, we proposed a cognitive community- based analytic framework. We then conducted a case study on a socks cluster in China, and an agent-based simulation to explore the dynamics of intra-cluster knowledge diffusion. The results indicate that the cluster's initial distribution of knowledge has great impact on the process of knowledge diffusion. Knowledge flows in the channel of cognitive community and the clusters with high-level low-heterogeneity knowledge distribution are more efficient in knowledge diffusion.
