The experiment was carried out in the orchard of the Lavras Agricultural University, Lavras, MG, Brazil, in 2000/2001 growing season, to verity the effects of pruning time, hydrogen cyanamide application, and soil coverage on green figs 'Roxo de Valinhos', fruit development and harvest time. The experimental design was a randomized block in a 3 x 2 x 2 factorial scheme: three pruning time (June 1, 2000; July 1, 2000 and July 31, 2000), both with and without hydrogen cyanamide, under conventional coverage and plastic cover, with three replications. The plots were constituted with four fig trees, 8 years old, in 2,5 x 1,5 m spacing. The association of early pruning (June 1 and July 1) and hydrogen cyanamide application anticipated fig crops cycle. Anticipated pruning with hydrogen cyanamide application provides increase in the production of figs. Soil coverage did not provide any increase in fruits number.
