Filter media: New filter barrier permits filtration and backwashing

摘要：
A new filter uses flexible elements to enlarge apertures during backwashing. Backwashing needs less energy and is effective. A vertical fixed drum filter can be used to obtain filtration with simultaneous filtering and backwashing. Dr Ian Doig explains.
