Corrosion and wear resistance of electroless nickel on magnesium alloys

摘要
Use of magnesium and magnesium alloys is on the rise because of its desirable physical and mechanical properties, good formability, and relative abundance. High electrochemical activity of magnesium dictates use of protective coatings, such as electroless nickel, to minimize corrosion and wear of component parts. This paper discusses critical processing steps for successful application of EN deposits to magnesium. Resultant corrosion and wear properties are also reported.
