Development Disparity and Regional Response of Domestic Tourism in Northwest China

This article systematically analyzes the development disparity and regional response of the domestic tourism economy in Northwest China; by integrating the indicators of Standard Deviation, Coefficient of Variation, Primacy Ratio and Herfindahl Index; based on the statistic data of domestic tourism incomes and tourist volumes in the 5 provinces (regions) of Northwest China from 1998 to 2012. The result indicates that: General disequilibrium exists in the development of domestic tourism economy in Northwest China; the five provinces (regions) have great response disparities in domestic tourism development; the key breakthrough of the tourism industry in Northwest China is to strengthen regional economy and infrastructure construction.
