Analysis for Transmission Performance of Ultra-long Haul Optical Fiber Link Considering Quintic Nonlinear Effect

摘要
In this paper, the optical transmission equation of fiber considering fourth-order dispersion and quintic nonlinearity is proposed. Simulation software of ultra long haul fransmission is developed by discretizing the equation with symmetric spilt-step Fourier method. Unrepeatered optical transmission system of 40Gb/s signal centred at 1550nm is designed. The results of numerical analysis show that the quintic nonlinearity with coefficient of 1W(-2)/km will result in significant fransmission impairments, and Q factor of the system is reduced by 1.9 at distance of 120km. When the optical transmitter power increases from 0.01W to 0.5W, the average Q factor is declined by 32.5. Therefore, the influence of quintic nonlinearity needs to be considered in the system with high power.
