摘要
Coupled deformation and fluid flow modelling represents a powerful computational tool, that has great potential in studying deformation and fluid flow interaction during epigenetic mineralisation processes, and in assisting exploration geologists to perform efficient scenario tests during mineral exploration campaign. To advocate this view, this paper describes the methodologies of coupled deformation and fluid modelling, and presents the results of two case studies. The first case study demonstrates that utilisation of the modelling approach in the Kanjiawan Au-Ag-Pb-Zn deposit (China) has facilitated our understanding of rock brecciation and associated fluid flow during mineralisation in the area. The second case study illustrates how we have used the computational method to explore basin scale fluid flow during structural inversion of the Isa Superbasin (Australia).
