摘要
The paper aims to present a comparison of costs and benefits related to the implementation of smart grids in Brazil. The analysis estimated expenses for the acquisition and the installation of the following items: smart meters, telecommunication infrastructure, advanced distribution automation and hardware and software for information technology. Furthermore, the return is evaluated in eight benefits categories. The analysis is based on six possible deployment scenarios and considers the Net Present Value - NPV of an annual cost benefit sequence. It is a preliminary Regulatory Impact Analysis that can support any decision on public policy of smart grids.
