摘要
For the container carrier. the cost of containers takes a great share of the total operation cost, And it is a very important to decide the optimum amount of the holding containers for a company. In the point of view of operation management, this paper discusses the optimum preservation for a carrier at a port. and furthermore gives considerations to the total amount of retaining containers for a shipping company. First we reviewed researches on such topic, and made an analysis on the practice of shipping management and the container dispatching. After the above work, we established a model for the decision of optimum preservation of container. In the model we are given the market share of cargo at a port of a company, the probable changes of the cargo needs, the chartering cost of containers. and so on. With this model we decide the optimum preservation of container with the view of minimum operation cost.
