Decision-making of Product Platform Innovation Based on Value Engineering

摘要
In the process of product platform innovation, the selection of objects of innovation and the evaluation of the innovation scheme are the keys while making the decision of product platform innovation. The definition of product platform and product platform life cycle was proposed. The features of optimization innovation, extension innovation and upgrading innovation during product platform evolution process were analyzed. The procedure of the selection of innovation objects within product platform based on value engineering was proposed, including the construction of the functional system diagram, the calculation of the functional evaluation coefficient and the cost coefficient based on Graph Theory, the calculation of the value of modules and the construction of the value evaluation diagram. The innovation objects were selected and evaluated according to the value evaluation diagram. Finally the knee type milling machine product platform was used as a case to illustrate the validity of the methodology.
