摘要
University education accessibility for graduates of national schools: ethnic and social aspects (by Laisan Moukharyamova, Irina Morenko, Rasila Petrova and Leisan Salakhatdinova) discusses attitudes to higher education of those high school graduates who had studied in Tartar and Russian language schools respectively. The study is based on empirical research in the republic of Tatarstan, 2002 to 2003. Accentuated are access chances to higher education, and strategies adopted by universities with regard to two language groups of entrants and eventual students. Language preferences are shown to be there both among university entrants and admission boards. Categories of Tartar shool graduates exposed to greatest deprivation are enumerated. Language issues in universities are discussed against the background of school system of the republic, of respective legislation and university leaders' attitudes.
