摘要：
The personal experiences of Richard T. Snodgrass, a professor in the University of Arizona, in the field of academics are discussed. Richard holds a B.A. degree in Physics from Carleton College and M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the ACM Transactions on Database Systems. According to Richard, academics make less than equivalently trained counterparts in industry. Academic departments have a very flat management structure, organizational behavior jargon that translates into lots of committees.
