摘要
Women are generally confined to personal spaces and remain in the background in decision-making and implementation processes in issues relating to the city, although they constitute about half the population living in the city centers. The necessity to eliminate this situation and to make urban areas more egalitarian has had an important influence on the implementation of the "Women -Friendly Cities Project". From this perspective, the purpose of the study is to investigate the women-city relationship in Trabzon and evaluate whether the city has achieved its goal of being women-friendly. In this context, literature review was used in academic studies conducted on the women -city relationship in Trabzon, and document analysis method was used in the Local Equality Action Plan (LEAP). Furthermore, as part of the study, the data received from the Supreme Election Board (SEB), Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services were interpreted. Consequently, it was determined that a variety of practices have been implemented in Trabzon under the Women's Friendly Cities Project, but the city still has significant deficiencies in terms of being women friendly.
