摘要
The precise 3-dimensional models obtained by laser scanning boost design by maximizing the use of computerized design systems. Fewer design errors and shorter processing times bring significant savings in costs (article on pages 147-148). The benefits of laser scanning in planning paper and board machine rebuilds are indisputable. The work is accomplished faster and design errors are fewer thanks to the high-precision input data. The standard of the design also improves as all relevant factors affecting the mill's operations can be included. New components can be pre-manufactured in larger units safe in the knowledge that they will fit. Models obtained by laser scanning are also ideal for creating dismantling and installation plans. Process shut-down times are reduced as everything is carefully planned in advance, thus considerably lowering costs.
