Design and analysis of a new low source current ripple soft-switching boost converter is presented in this paper. This converter not only exhibits higher boosting but also the switching devices undergo zero-voltage transition. The zero-voltage transition for the switching devices is realized through a resonating inductor, and a capacitance connected across the device. Detailed steady-state analysis is presented for the interleaved gating scheme. These analysis expressions are then used to design a 24 to 100 V, 50 W prototype converter system. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed design. Experimental measurements are in close correlation to simulation results and thus demonstrating the soft-switching feature of the proposed converter.
