The task-based language approach (TBLT), based on a large amount of studies and experiments by second-language acquisition experts and foreign language teaching experts, has been considered as one of the most promising language teaching methods since the mid-1980s. It emphasizes the model of "student-centered" and "learning by doing", which makes the language teaching much more empirical and realistic by fulfilling real tasks. The present study, with an aim to test a new way of reading teaching, is meant to make an empirical investigation of the application of task-based language teaching in college English reading course. An experimental way is adopted to elicit whether the application of TBLT will lead to improved outcome.
