摘要：

To solve the problem of lexical learning, this paper is to figure out a practical method for teaching and learning English vocabulary. Since metaphor plays an important role in the evolution of lexical meaning, the article illustrated the importance of metaphor approach in English vocabulary teaching and introduced with examples some practical ways of metaphor infiltration and the development of learner's metaphor competence in lexical teaching. Thus getting the conclusion that once metaphor approach is used in lexical learning, the learner will be of great efficiency in memorizing the vocabulary and grasping the meaning of it deeply.
