摘要
This article discusses the relevance of the triarchic theory of human intelligence for the understanding and assessment of intelligence in multicultural populations. The article is divided into three pal ts. The first part argues that intelligence can mean different things to different cultural groups, and that conventional narrow measures of intelligence fail to do justice to the breadth that the construct needs to encompass in order to be relevant multiculturally. The second part describes recent research we have done toward the construction of broader-based measures of intelligence. The third part draws conclusions, in particular, that it is time to move beyond conventional intelligence rests. (C) 1999 Society for the Study of School Psychology.
