Coherence in two-particle interferometry

We discuss the coherence of a photon pair and clarify that there are two kinds of coherences: the coherence carried by each photon and the coherence carried by the two photons as a pair. The former is important in the Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer, and the latter is important in the Franson interferometer. It is also clarified that quantum entanglement is not essential in the former case, which encourages us to consider two-particle interference experiments. A configuration of two-atom interference experiment is proposed and its feasibility is discussed.
