摘要
The emerging heterogeneous network scenario is likely to get even more heterogeneous as in envisioned 5G networks higher spectrum band will be explored. So, multi-RAT integration and handover management would be even more challenging. There exist several inter-technology handover schemes and one of the major classes is end-to-end vertical handover schemes. In this work, we have proposed a method to improve the handover triggering instance for end-to-end vertical handover schemes to maximize the connectivity with the preferred network and minimize unnecessary handover. Exploiting the radio frequency coverage maps the optimum instance for handover triggering is determined, particularly in the context of end-to-end VHO scheme. We have shown that by dynamically adjusting the handover triggering instance better throughput can be achieved.
