摘要：
The rise in power and the decline in price of desktop computing has created a wave of new possibilities for studying our architectural heritage. With this new technology one can easily imagine stepping outside the normal 2D world of Plan Section and Elevation drawings of historical buildings and into a virtual world created in 3D. But is this really as easy a step to take as the technology would imply? This paper will explore the requirements for creating 3D models sufficient for architectural heritage research and presents current investigations in methodology with regard to three very different buildings : the Cathedral St. Just of Narbonne, France, The Abbey of Valmagne in Mete France and the Goodrich House in Anderson, Texas, USA.
