摘要：
A computer aided fixture design (CAFD) system related to group-fixture design is discussed in this paper. It includes workpiece information obtaining, similarity analysis, fixture conceptual design and configuration design. The CAFD system is developed in an feature-based programming environment to integrated with product CAD and CAPP system. The design process of group-fixture is based on the principle of group technology. taking advantage of workpiece similarity. The system can propose a preliminary fixture configuration according to the information getting from CAD and CAPP system, and verify its locating accuracy and clamping stability to make appropriate decisions for next design step.
