摘要
Lake Abaya is part of a lake system in the Southern Ethiopian Rift Valley. In the last 15 years, water level of Lake Abaya has continuously increased, while the catchment annual precipitation has not significantly varied and discharge of major tributaries has decreased. Analysis of lacustrine sediments revealed that in the most recent past high input rates of suspended load due to soil erosion processes in the drainage basin area caused changes in lake basin volume and thus influenced lake level.
