Effect of farmyard manure, phosphorus and sulphur on growth, yield and quality of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea)

摘要
A field trial conducted during the winter season of 1994-95 and 1995-96 revealed that the growth, yield attributes and seed as well as stover yields of Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czerjn. & Cosson] increased singnificantly with the application of farmyard manures (5 tonnes/ha) over the control. Application of P showed linear increase of these characters up to 80 kg P2O5/ha; however, the primary branches and number of siliquae in 1994-95, seeds and oil content in 1995-96, and plant height, leaf area, total dry matter and length of siliqua in both the years showed a linear response up to 120 kg P2O5/ha Similarly, all these parameters also increased significantly with increasing levels of sulphur up to 60 kg/ha during both the years. However, significant effect was noted up to 30 kg S/ha when data on seed and stover yields were pooled.
