摘要：
This paper presents a survey of sliding mode observer design for linear time invariant systems (both state space systems model and descriptor systems model). Sliding mode observer is used because of its intense robustness property. Theory and design principles for fault detection and reconstruction are also discussed in this paper. In both (state space system and descriptor system model) fault reconstruction is achieved by using discontinuous injection signal, which causes the system trajectories to move into the sliding manifold.
