摘要
Skidding, i.e.,considerable cage slip is prone to occur in high speed and lightly loaded cylindrical roller bearings and is the major cause of excessive wear or incipient failure of the inner ring and roller surfaces. Therefore, it is important to predict the skidding under any condition of radial load and shaft speed. An analytical method proposed in the paper enables estimation of the cage slip and roller slip for a given bearing geometry and operating condition. The method includes effect of the non-Newtonian behavior, Eyring viscosity, and viscous heating of lubricating oil, misalignment and roller skew. The comparison between analytical data and experimental data was done to establish adequacy of the analysis. Moreover, the analysis can be used to determine how much radial load or radial preloading is necessary to prevent the skidding.
