Birth with complications. A non-routine emergency mission

In this case report we present an unusual emergency concerning a pregnant woman with contractions. After preparing for transport to the nearest obstetrics department, labor pains and contractions increased and the baby's head appeared within the vulva. This led to the decision to abort transportation and to start prehospital parturition. Within emergency medical services systems prehospital parturition requires special skills from the emergency physician and the medical team. Nonetheless, it has to be stated that basic knowledge even of rare cases, such as this obstetric emergency, needs to be available.
