Numerical analysis of lining ring behavior during shield tunneling

摘要：
A three-dimensional numerical model simulating the excavation process was developed during the tunneling works corresponding to the last Madrid Metro Extension Project (1995-1999). Successful estimation of soil movements before the passage of the shield was obtained through the use of this model. However, insufficient care was taken when modeling the lining behavior. The aim of this work is a more correct simulation of the lining rings. Field data from total pressure cells will be employed to qualify and validate the developed lining model.
