摘要
Statistic and mechanism of extreme wave formation are discussed on base of 8-years records of wave data measured by autonomous buoy in the North-East part of Black sea. It was considered 32 storms with significant wave heights more than 6 m and in detail storm with extreme waves about 11-12 m. The analysis of wave records at the moment of the maximal development of storm have been shown occurrence of the extreme single waves appearing every 5-10 min which visually not belong to observable wave group structure. Analysis of frequency-angular spectra, wavelet and spavlet (spectra of modulus of wavelet coefficients) analysis had revealed the existence of two or three wave systems with narrow banded frequencies, propagated in the same direction with different wave group structures. Extreme waves are a result of superposition of maximums of waves of this narrow banded frequency scales. The reasons of existence of few wave systems are not completely clear now. Possible it may be Benjamin-Feir instability or conditions of wave generation in open sea.
