摘要
The green revolution has been a splendid achievement from the point of view of agricultural production and yields. Importants increases in food supply permitted to meet peoples' demand resulting from the demographic growth mainly in Asia. Unfortunately, it is reaching limits. The green revolution took place mainly in high potential irrigated areas. In theese regions, yield plateauing is observed as well as important environmental problems like soil salinity, water tables lowering and chemical pollution. The doubly green revolution tries to associate productivity, natural resource management and environment protection. It aims to reduce under-nutrition and poverty for the populations who are living in low and medium potential areas. But it also concerns other kinds of agriculture. It results from the application of sustainable development and long term viability in the agricultural domain. Current and past experiences show that green manure-cover crop systems could be a first important possibility and be developped in rainfed areas. But other techniques using ecological scientific knowledge could be used if the economical and institutionnal environment is in favor of such developments.
