An experiment for broadband interactive video conferencing using multicast

摘要
We experimented with an interactive video conference with West Virginia University Softopia Japan, VR Technoplaza and Gifu University using ATM networks: JGN, Gifu Superhighway, APAN, GEMnet, and abilene. In video conference with multiple sites, wide band-area have to keep as increasing sites. Still more, in the case of the other hand is far, movie data have to transmit it via several networks. If there are low-band area in these networks, we save band-area, Therefore we gather movie data from multiple sites, transmitting division toll 4 size to multiple sites, receiving normal size from multiple sites. In this paper, we describe an outline of our experiments and a mechanism of this experiment.
