摘要：

The article discusses several issues and among others, touches upon the process of liberalising the internal market in energy and the possible negative consequences brought about by the use of conventional energy sources. It gives a brief overview of the legislative framework at the EU level and outlines possible solutions applicable for ensuring a long-term efficient use of energy by increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the total energy consumption, thus ensuring sustainable development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
