A canonical formalism for a higher-curvature gravity

摘要
Following the method of Buchbinder and Lyakhovich, we carry out a canonical formalism for a higher-curvature gravity theory in which the Lagrangian density L is given in terms of a function of the scalar curvature (R) over cap as L. = root-det (g) over cap(mu upsilon)f((R) over cap), where f is a nonlinear differentiable function of (R) over cap. We comment on the physical significance of the metric taking the Robertson-Wallcer metric as an example.
