摘要
FBG sensors are becoming popular because of their excellent properties like high sensitivity, good stability to withstand harsh environment, immune to electromagnetic interference etc, due to these extraordinary properties they are finding applications in fields like biomedical, structural health monitoring, optical fiber sensor. In this paper, simulation and analysis of FBG based sensor with a new material is reported. The material chosen is a cyclic olefin copolymer named TOPAS with refractive index of the core1.53 and the cladding1.525. Simulation is performed using silica and TOPAS based FBG for different strain and temperature and the results are compared. It is observed that TOPAS FBG responds more efficiently in sensing the applied strain and temperature compared to silica FBG indicating improved sensitivity. The simulations are performed using Opti Grating simulation tool.
