Performance and interference analysis of WCDMA system

摘要
In this paper, the user interference status is analysed for both hard and soft handoff case in a WCDMA context. Downlink power limitations and their impact on the distribution of the interfered users are considered in detail. To analyse the radio conditions experienced by the terminals, a Monte Carlo based simulation tool models a large hexagonal cell structure network thanks to the wrap around technique. Radio distance considered includes both pathloss and shadowing effects as specified in 3GPP propagation models. The interference level computed at each terminal comprises intra as well as inter cell interference. Based on these levels of interference, a power control algorithm splits the Base Station (BS) maximal transmitted power between the users linked to this BS in order to locally provide the desired signal quality.
