Psychosomatic Rehabilitation

Psychosomatic rehabilitation is a specific type of medical rehabilitation in which psychotherapeutic interventions play a central role. This paper gives an overview of the different therapies and their effectiveness in psychosomatic rehabilitation. The whole sequence of a rehabilitation program (pre-treatment, intervention, post-treatment) and specific interventions for burdened patients are described. Furthermore, it describes predictors and barriers of effective rehabilitation, such as therapy motivation, illness concept, period of disability, and personal problems of patients.
