摘要
The higher education sector in the 21st century has experienced a reduction of funding from the Federal Government. Here, to overcome this deficit, the public universities need to generate their own additional income. Accordingly, the academic staff should play an important role towards this objective in order to reduce the dependence on government funding. This study aims to identify the challenges faced by academic staff at the public universities to generate income for the university. A qualitative research approach was used, where the respondent is comprised of those who are directly involved in generating income at one of the public university in Malaysia. The study reveals that there are various factors that influence their intention to involve in this activity. Ultimately, the recommendations from this study will help the academic staffs at public universities to engage in the effort to generate income activities for the benefit of university.
