摘要
The paper intends to give an overview of the applications and implications of Genre-based Instruction (GBI) in China' s pedagogical practices in regard to academic writing since 1990s. It is suggested that the application of GBI is promising in the pedagogical practices of academic writing; however, more studies, especially those empirical ones teasing out differences between disciplines, paradigms and languages, should be carried out to confirm its effectiveness.
