THE IMPLICATION OF INTERPERSONAL TRUST IN PERSONALITY DISORDERS

Interpersonal trust is a generalized expectancy that favors emotional disclosure and helps seeking, making easier overcoming psychological problems. This study contrasts the "Interpersonal Trust Questionnaire" factor structure in its original version with our own, extracted from a sample of 671 Spanish students. A two-factor structure was obtained using: fear of disclosure and interpersonal support. Both were reliable and congruent with the original factor solution. Correlational and differential analyses between extreme groups demonstrated that "fear of disclosure" is implying, in both personality dimensions and personality disorders. The results showed that lack of confidence can be related to interpersonal difficulties involved in the development of personality disorders.
