Professional migration intentions of Russian students abroad

Professional migration intentions of Russian students abroad is devoted to the analysis of professional migration behavior of Russian students studying in the foreign universities in 2000/01 academic year. The study used non-standard techniques of obtaining empirical data including questionnaire survey through Internet, Original sociological information covers a wide spectrum of basic characteristics of the modern international Russian student community: social and demographic characteristics, professional orientations, migratory (homecoming) intentions, as well as main factors and stimuli for return migration. The paper presents some estimates of emigration or homecoming potential of young specialists after completing their education abroad. It also contains recommendations on special programs to encourage return of intellectual resources back to Russia.
