Telephone triage and consultation: An emerging role for nurses

Two focus groups of nurses who conduct telephone triage and consultation were conducted and their findings were compared with descriptions of this role in the literature. Issues surrounding this emerging role are identified, and implications for nursing practice, education, and research are discussed.
