摘要
New experiments planned for the Low Energy Ion Collisions Facility in the J. R. Macdonald Laboratory at Kansas State University are requiring high fluxes of low-charge ions. We have begun construction of new ion source facilities to supplement the Electron Beam Ion Source in the LEICF area to try to better meet these needs. This initiative includes a new accelerator platform with multiple ion-source capabilities for delivering low-charged ions to existing beam lines. We are also working on portable ion sources that can be used for setup work on experiments or allow experiments to run independently of the main ion accelerator. In this talk I will review the ion-beam requirements for the experiments in the LEICF and describe the planned facility improvements.
