We derive equations for the rate dA/dt of change in the area of various types of two-dimensional (2D) soap bubble cluster, including clusters in contact with solid walls. These equations are a generalization of von Neumann's equation dA/dt = k(n - 6) for single bubbles with n neighbours. While free clusters shrink, clusters in contact with walls may grow. We give experimental results of 2D cluster ageing which are well described by the equations and provide a fairly accurate measurement of the kinetic constant k.
