Transient and Dynamic Analysis of a Sinusoidal Rotor Shape Synchronous Reluctance Motor with Rotor Brass Bars

摘要
Nowadays, new requirements embrace the electric traction motor to have reliable starting characteristics, quick accelerations, and good dynamic response under various driving cycles. This paper presents the starting and dynamic capabilities, of a three-phase sinusoidal rotor synchronous reluctance motor (SRSynRM) with embedded rotor cage brass bars, suitable as a candidate for electric traction motor options. The experimental measurements are carried out in order to analyze the starting, acceleration and dynamic characteristics of the SRSynRM. The experimental results evidenced that at standstill, the SRSynRM developed an induction torque with positive peak-to-peak values, and in contrast the starting torque of the standard synchronous reluctance motor (SSynRM) having the same ratings, fluctuates between positive and negative peak-to-peak values before transiting into accelaration mode. The experimental results also proved that both, SRSynRM and SSynRM have almost the same current dynamic response despite slight difference in their moment of inertia.
