摘要：

Theresa Cha's Dictee has long been heralded in the avant-garde community for its experimental structure and open, pluralistic signification. Paradoxically, such nomenclatures have led to particular readings that have guided our interpretations of the text, especially regarding its many references to Christianity This essay interprets Dictee's Christian symbols and language in ways other than those already noted from a post-colonial perspective, introducing the argument that some references to Christian symbols and ideas are empowering rather than debilitating to the speakers in the poem.
