Gavriljuk commented on the mechanism of H peak of internal friction in high-alloyed face centered cubic Fe made by Asano. The orientation dependence of the relaxation strength performed on single crystal of N austenitic steel showed that the symmetry of non-cubic defects responsible for the Snoek-like relaxation changes from tetragonal to orthorhombic with increasing content of substitutional solutes. The H content in the solid solution is higher in the CrNi steel while the Snoek-like peak is much higher in the Fe-Ni alloys. A striking increase in the intensity of the H-caused Snoek-like peak with increasing Ni content was also observed for Fe-Ni alloys and CrNi austenitic steels. A similar behvior of the Snoek-like peak occurs in Fe-Ni-C austenite.
