摘要
The unique vascular supply of the scaphoid, although interesting to anatomists, is the cause of much consternation to hand surgeons and their patients. The unique vascular supply of the scaphoid is at the heart of this bone's propensity to heal slowly or not at all. A nonunion of the scaphoid can be well tolerated for years, but sooner or later, the nonunion will lead to posttraumatic arthrosis. It is with this long-term view in mind that the author encourages patients with scaphoid nonunions, to undergo surgical repair of their nonunion.
