摘要
The authors compare direct probability and non-probability parametric uncertainty analysis for decision making in early design phase of passive and active vibration isolation in suspension struts. A simple mathematical one degree of freedom linear model of an automobile's suspension leg with harmonic base point excitation and subject to passive and active vibration isolation is used as an example to answer three basic questions: which simple and direct yet adequate methodological tool to quantify data uncertainty analysis is reasonable for decision making in early design phase? What is the difference between uncertainty in the passive and in the active vibration isolation approach and what is the confidence level analyzing the difference? Is the data uncertainty quantification in early design sufficient and to what extend it is needed to quantify model uncertainty for decision making?
