OPTIMIZATION OF DIFFUSION BONDING PARAMETERS OF DISSIMILAR ALUMINIUM MATRIX COMPOSITES

Diffusion bonding (DB) of Aluminium Fly Ash (AFA) and Aluminium Silicon Carbide (ASC) composites are used in this study. Taguchi's L27 orthogonal array has been adopted for experimentation. The process parameters considered in the study were temperature, pressure and time. Optimization was carried out to find the optimal parameters for efficient bonding. Bonding conditions such as temperature, pressure and time are optimized on bonding strength. The optimal parameter combination for obtaining high bonding strength yields is T2P2HT1 with 475 degrees C of temperature, 12 MPa of pressure and 60 min of time. The response table shows that temperature is a dominant factor, followed by time and pressure. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine the adequacy of developed model.
